In 2024, I helped solve a mystery that confounded the community of Julian for decades. Margaret Robinson was a black pioneer in the town, co-founding the Hotel Robinson (today the Julian Gold Rush Hotel) with her husband Albert. After Albert died, Margaret sold the hotel and left town. Working alongside local historian David Lewis, we uncovered the details of Margaret's final years, including where she was laid to rest.
