Why hire a genealogist?
A genealogist can take you beyond family lore or research on Ancestry.com and generate new discoveries and history that you would not likely find on your own. With education, experience, hours of preparation and organization, a genealogist is equipped with the research tools needed to dig deeper - and more accurately - than an untrained researcher.

My favorite project is one that allows me to help you uncover the stories of your ancestors. Below is a list of the types of services I provide. I am happy to work with you on unique requests and consultations. Though prices vary according to the hours required for the project, research services start at $150.

How does it work?

Initial Planning & Consultation
It all starts and ends with your goals and interests; as such, we will begin with an initial consultation and review of your goals and (if applicable) Research Request Form. The best results come with a specific, attainable goal – so I will work with you to define it before any work begins. Research and Feedback Depending on your goals, we can start with a 2-3 hour consultation, or 10 hours of commissioned research. If commissioned research is the path, I will create a research plan based on your goals, and will seek your feedback, as needed, throughout the research project. Research goals can shift, but you are the boss and will decide how/when that happens. |
Results
You define success for the project, so results may vary based on your initial goal (e.g., update your online tree, create a special narrative or record of discoveries, etc.), but the results are yours and I will strive to provide you with the professional, clear results you seek. You can rest assured that I will endeavor to make this process (and the results) a special one! |

Groundwork Package
$150.00
Following a one-hour virtual consultation, I will conduct 2 hours of research that is designed to get you started on your path, and help you develop a detailed research plan for continuing your family history research. Included:
- Brief explanation of best practices for genealogical research, including set up of family tree on Ancestry or FamilySearch (if desired)
- Summary of initial research findings
- Suggestions (including step-by-step guide) for future research steps/inquiries
10-Hour Research Package
$400.00
In addition to a one-hour virtual consultation and the collaborative development of a research plan, you will also receive:
- Research log
- Detailed research report
- Pedigree charts/family group sheets, if desired
- Ancestry and/or FamilySearch tree updates, if desired
20-Hour Research Package
$800.00
In addition to a one-hour virtual consultation and the collaborative development of a research plan, you will also receive:

Ancestor Cards

Postcards to remember them by. These keepsakes can be added to any research package and are a great way to keep and share the stories of your ancestors. Choose from different styles and templates.
Research Coaching Package
$150.00
Have a challenging research question? The research coaching package offers you a chance to continue on your research path with professional guidance and suggestions so that you can break down those brick walls. The package includes:
- 3 hours of analysis of prior research
- Suggested research plan
Additional hours can be added at hourly rate of $35 if prior research is extensive.
Family History Book (Design Only)
$150.00
Display your discoveries in a bound family history book. Using your research or the results of research I conduct, I will design a book that pulls together stories of your ancestors. Order as many as you like (and upgrade the binding, paper, etc.) through Shutterfly or Canva. Price includes 30-35 page book, each additional 10 pages is $50.
